Arrest in Chelsea rape
Police arrested Hendrick Ajamiseba, 32, on Wed., March 5 in connection with the March 1 rape and robbery of a masseuse in her Chelsea studio/residence.
The suspect was traced to the Flushing YMCA where he was staying by a fingerprint lifted from a wine glass in the victims W. 23rd St. apartment. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail pending an April 16 court appearance on charges of first-degree rape, robbery and burglary.
The victim, 32, told police the suspect entered her apartment at about 6:10 p.m. representing himself as a customer, but he later said he was a police officer and threatened to arrest her if she didnt submit to sex. She refused, and he punched her in the neck, forced oral sex on her, then had intercourse with her and stole $2,000 in cash before he fled, police said.
Delivery man slashed
A man delivering pizza and soda to an apartment at 450 W. 27th St. Dr. in the Elliott Chelsea Houses at about 6:50 p.m. Fri., March 7 was greeted by a man with a knife who took his money and slashed him on the hand and face. The victim fled and called police who arrested the suspect, Angel Ortiz, 39, two days later and charged him with robbery and assault.
False bomb
An anonymous 911 caller said, Theres a bomb in 80 Eighth Ave. Im not kidding around, at 2:10 p.m. Mon., March 10, bringing police to canvas the high-rise office tower on Eighth Ave. and W. 14th St. from the roof to the basement. There was no bomb.
Storage room theft
A thief forced open the door of a storage room in the apartment building at 345 W 14th St. and stole 10 bicycles, hand and power tools, a box of glassware and other items belonging to residents and the building maintenance staff with a total value of $4,700 sometime between Feb. 18 and 11 a.m. Mon., March 10 when the theft was discovered, police said.
Driving impaired
Police stopped a white 2000 Cadillac speeding up 10th Ave. between 23rd and 26th Sts. at 55-60 miles per hour during the early hours of Mon., March 10 and smelled alcohol on the breath of a driver whose speech was slurred. They charged Antonios Tsikitas, 28, who refused to take a field alcohol breath test, with driving while intoxicated.
Police stopped a car with defective taillights driving down Eighth Ave. between 29th and 28th Sts. at 9:30 p.m. Wed., March 12 and detected a strong smell of marijuana on the breath of the driver, Sal Manino, 30. Police said the suspect turned over two glassine envelopes of marijuana and allowed them to search the car and find a marijuana butt in the car ashtray.
Electronic theft
Employees in the Verizon building at 438 W. 18th St. discovered on Tuesday afternoon March 11, that someone had stolen 39 circuit boards from the company warehouse. The stolen equipment was valued at $131,008.
No thank you note
A resident of W. 18th St. between Seventh and Eighth Aves. invited a man he met in the street at 2 a.m. Wed., March 12 to spend the night in his apartment. The host woke up at 9:30 a.m. to find his guest gone and a radio, iPod, two laptops and his credit cards missing, police said.
Club grope
A Queens woman, 21, told police she was in La Belle Vie, a restaurant and lounge at 184 Eighth Ave., around 10:40 p.m. Mon., March 10 when a male patron grabbed her and then began pushing and menacing her.
Window shot
A student at the High School of Fashion Industries, 225 W. 24th St., was sitting in a seventh floor classroom at 2:40 p.m. Wed., March 12 when he heard a sharp noise and turned to see a small hole in the widow, police said. At the same time, the student told police, he saw a male and a female looking at the school from a window in a building on 25th St.
Motorcycles gone
Two motorcycles, a 2007 Honda and a 2007 Yamaha, chained together to a metal fence on the southeast corner of Ninth Ave. at 21st St. on Wednesday night Feb. 27, were gone when the owners came to pick them up at 1:50 p.m. Tues., March 12, police said.
MetroCard sharps
Transit police arrested Alfonso Serrato, 37, in the subway mezzanine at 14th St. and Seventh Ave. on Tuesday afternoon March 11 after seeing him manipulating a MetroCard to create a new balance. They charged him with forgery and larceny after they found 168 similarly altered MetroCards in his jacket pocket.
Michael Little, 51, was arrested in the Eighth Ave. subway station at 23rd St. and charged with manipulating a MetroCard to create a new balance. He had six other similar cards in his pocket, police said.
ID theft
A resident of W. 21st St. at Seventh Ave. was making credit card payments on line at home at about 8 p.m. Sun., March 9 when he learned that someone had used his social security number to create another card in his namebut with a different addressand had run up $6,000 in unauthorized charges, police said.
