Fashion for Action On Wednesday, volunteers and employees at Housing Works Thrift Shop, on 17th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, prepared for the nonprofit’s upcoming Fashion for Action benefit. The four-day event, which runs Thursday through Sunday, kicked off with a VIP reception and silent auction at Chelsea’s Rubin Museum. Beginning on Friday, the thrift store will be a magnet for fashionistas who will flock there for donated designer labels priced at 70–90 percent off retail. All proceeds will go to Housing Works, which each year helps more than 2,000 low-income and/or homeless people living with HIV/AIDS.
