Thousands march for affordable housing at StuyTown

Wednesday afternoon’s “Hands around Stuyvesant Town” rally for affordable housing and tenant protections drew an impressive crowd, along with a gaggle of elected officials, that included City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, State Senator Tom Duane, State Assemblymember Richard Gottfried, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, City Comptroller William Thompson and various City Councilmembers. The rally, which took place from 4:45 to 6 p.m., was followed by a spirited march to Union Square.
