Claude Cahun graces the inner sanctum at G.T.S.

The Close at the General Theological Seminary was turned into a veritable art museum this past weekend when the school hosted a multimedia exhibition of Claude Cahun’s photographic work as part of the High Line Festival. The early 20th-century work of Cahun, considered one of the leading artists of the Surrealist movement, was projected onto a half-dozen screens of varying sizes, creating a cinematic ambience from dusk til midnight from Friday to Sunday in the otherwise serene space. This photograph was made using a long, 10-second time exposure.
