Master Manipulator A debut exhibition of work by Georgia-based artist Suellen Parker addressing self-image and society’s high standards of physical perfection. THE PUBLIC EYE “San Gennaro Ora Pro Nobis” is the second in photographer Federico Savini’s trilogy of exhibits about public events in New York. “The Angels of Grand Army Plaza,” the first show, about youth and the flesh, included images of the West Indian Parade. Halloween and disintegration inspired the third part, “After the Fall of God and Empire,” to be shown in April, and the current and second show, which concerns food and money, has been extended until the end of January. QUEEN OF DOODLING Nina Bovasso, whose work is described as “compulsive doodling,” has created a series of high-color, cartoon-like botanic designs for her new show titled “Botanizing the Asphalt.” The acrylic, ink and watercolor works on paper, like “Her Name Was Lola,” above, are expressive of her interest in representing nature through the decorative arts, and the decorative arts’ ability to represent cultures. Women in transition In his fifth solo exhibition “Vicissitudes,” Louis Renzoni uses a dark palette to portray what he calls “a flicker between the romantic and the ordinary” created through a layering technique of sanding and repainting to create a smoky finish.
