The joy of singing

Chelsea was alive with the sound of holiday music this past weekend, as the Chelsea Community Church and Church of the Holy Apostles both put on Yuletide choral performances. Above left: On Sunday, Chelsea Community Church held its 33rd Annual Candlelight Carol Service, drawing nearly 200 people to join in singing selections such as “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and “We Three Kings of Orient Are.” They also listened to stage, screen and television star Isiah Whitlock, Jr. read “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” the classic holiday poem written by long-deceased Chelsea resident Clement Clarke Moore. Above right: Also on Sunday, several hundred people filled Church of the Holy Apostles for a program of chants, carols, and ancient and modern songs, including “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “The First Noel,” “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “The Christmas Song.”
